The name Einiosaurus means "Bison Lizard" or, more commonly used, "Buffulo Lizard". Einiosaurus was 11 feet and about 3.5 metres long. It ate the plants of Montana, U.S. Descendents of Zuniceratops and its relatives, the true horned dinosaurs were some of the most common dinosaurs of the western part of North America during the last part of the Late Cretaceous Period. In general, their bodies were very similar: they had huge skulls with powerful beaks, thick and powerful legs, and medium-sized tails. They had sharp rows of teeth to deal with tough vegetation.
The main differences between the species of horned dinosaurs were in the pattern of the horns on the head and spikes on the frill. There are two main groups of true horned dinosaurs. Einiosaurus is representative of one of these groups. In Einiosaurus and its relatives the nose horn was much longer than the eyebrow horns. The snout was shorter and deeper, and there were often large spikes on the frill. In the case of Einiosaurus itself the nose horn was bent forward, something like a can opener, and a frill had only one pair of backwards-pointing spikes. Einiosaurus and its relatives lived in herds. Sometimes paleontologist find the remains of babies, youngsters, and adults all jumbled together, making them suggest that members of that herd were killed by frezzing tempentures. A full-grown Einiosaurus would weigh 2 tons.
